Infection Control Training Course Program Requirements

   The requirements are as follows:

   • A screen that supports at least 1024 x 768 pixel resolution in thousands color mode (16-bit)

   • We recommend using a stable* version of one of the browsers listed below. All popup window blockers must be turned off.

     Windows:

     • Google Chrome 33 or later
     • Firefox 28 or later
     • Internet Explorer 10, 11

     Mac:

     • Google Chrome 33 or later
     • Firefox 28 or later
     • Safari 5.1, 6, 7 or 8

     iPad:

     • Safari for iOS 6, iOS 7 or iOS 8

     *Only stable versions of these browsers are supported. Release candidates (RC), beta, and alpha versions are not supported.

   • Flash 8.0.0 or higher must be installed.

3. Back to Top ↑ Does this course require any special software?

   First make sure that you have the Flash version 8.0.0 or higher plugin installed on your computer. You need to confirm that Flash Player version 8.x or above is installed. If you do not have Flash installed or have an earlier version, you can download and install the Flash Player for free at the Install Adobe Flash Player site.

   Once downloaded, run the Adobe Flash installer and follow the step-by-step instructions. After installing Flash, return to Northshore's Infection Control Training Course web site to begin the course.

Before Completing the Course

1. Back to Top ↑ What will I need to do to complete the Infection Control Training Course?

   There are four items that must be done to complete the Infection Control Training Course.

   • Complete the course. All slides must be viewed.
   • Multiple choice questions appear throughout the course. You have the option to go to the slide(s) that contains relevant material. You must correctly answer at least 80% of all questions in each section. If you do not, you will be required to page through the section again and re-answer the questions.
   • Complete the Course Survey at the end of the course.
   • Print the course certificate. Keep this for your records.

Taking the Course

1. Back to Top ↑ How do I begin the Infection Control Training Course?

   When the Infection Control Training Course opens, the Instruction slide will be displayed. There is a navigation bar along near the top of the slide.

   • To begin the course- Review the instructions, then click the 'Next' button (forward arrow), or the Continue button at the bottom of the screen to start the training course.
   • Credits - Use the Table of Contents menu button to view the program and development Credits.
   • Support - Use the Table of Contents menu button to view contact information for technical Support.
   • Exit - Click the Exit button at the right end of the navigation bar to exit the training course.
2. Back to Top ↑ How do I navigate while viewing the training course?

   The Infection Control Training Course display screen has a navigation and control bar near the top of the screen. A slide Table of Contents/history and a slide counter are located in the upper left.

   The navigation and control buttons are:
   Slide - Press keyboard arrows to proceed or to go back to previous slides.
   Flagged - Click checkbox next to Flag to mark a slide. Click Flagged button to open menu and go to a marked slide.
   Narration - Click checkbox to turn narration on or off. Click pause or play next to the narration checkbox.
   Search - Type search text, then press Enter/Return to search the Infection Control Training Course for an onscreen word or phrase.

   • The result field will display a list of slides by section, number and title where the search word or phrase occurs.
   • Select a title to go to that slide. You may only go to slides you have already viewed.

   Narration Off - On a slide, uncheck the Narration checkbox to stop the narration and reveal all onscreen text and Continue button.
   Pause/Play - If the narration is playing, click the Narration pause button to pause the program. Click the Narration play (single forward arrow) to resume the presentation. At the end of a slide, click play to replay the slide.
   Flag - Click the checkbox next to Flag to mark the title of a slide. Click the checkbox next to Flag again to unmark the slide.
   Previous - Click to move back through previously viewed slides.
   Next - Once the current slide has finished, click Next, or the Continue button at the bottom of the screen to proceed to the next slide.
   Table of Contents - Click Table of Contents to open a list of the slides. The menu displays the slide titles and numbers of all slides, with previously viewed slides in blue text. Select the title of a slide previously viewed to go to that slide. To close the Table of Contents, click Back to (current slide) in the gray bar.

Completing the Course

   Multiple choice questions appear throughout the course. You have the option to go to the slide(s) that contains relevant material. You must correctly answer at least 80% of all questions in each section. If you do not, you will be required to page through the section again and re-answer the questions.
   You may click the Relevant Slide link to see the slide in the course that provides information about each question.

2. Back to Top ↑ How do I indicate my answers?
   • Select an answer choice by clicking the answer.
   • Click Continue to view the next question.
3. Back to Top ↑ How can I review a question I have already answered?

   Review questions you have answered by using the Table of Contents to select the question.

   • Click a question number in the slide menu to go to the question.
   • You can see the question and answers, and answer you selected. You may use the Relevant Slide link to review associated material in the course slides.
4. Back to Top ↑ Are there course survey questions to complete?

   After you have completed the course and answered the final set of questions, complete the Course Survey questions to receive credit for the Infection Control Training Course. Follow the onscreen instructions and click submit when finished.

5. Back to Top ↑ How do I obtain my certificate of completion?

   When the course, all test questions, and Course Survey have been completed, you will have the opportunity to print your certificate. Check that the information is correct and follow the onscreen instructions to print.
